Unity application exception: unable find suitable compiler

Post by 101516 » Wed Mar 19, 2014 9:54 am

Hej all,
I'm trying to find a real solution to this error in unity.
I was working with unity in Gamelab 5 (still retaking it) and at some point this error occurred.
When googling it all I got was: Reimport all and it goes away, and it did. Though a couple of hours at first, now they are only minutes,
it slipped right back in our project.

Now I want to know: Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a real solution for it?
I have posted this on the unity forums as well but I wanted to see if somebody else has this problem as well. This way I can share the information with them, or with anyone that might run into this problem in the future.

I do have some assumptions on things that might have to do with getting this error:
- mac and windows notebooks working on the project
- using monodevelop and visual studio
- using svn

That is all I got for now to go on, if you guys have any ideas please do share.

Do you have your Subversion ignore pattern set up correctly? Most, if not all, of your /Library/ should be ignored, among some other things.
Also, when exactly do you get this error?

This is the batch file I'm currently using for Unity projects:

Code: Select all

del ".\Library\assetDatabase3"
del ".\Library\AssetImportState"
del ".\Library\assetservercachev3"
del ".\Library\AssetServerCacheV3"
del ".\Library\AssetVersioning.db"
del ".\Library\AudioManager.asset"
del ".\Library\BuildPlayer.prefs"
del ".\Library\BuildSettings.asset"
del ".\Library\DynamicsManager.asset"
del ".\Library\EditorSettings.asset"
del ".\Library\EditorUserBuildSettings.asset"
del ".\Library\expandedItems"
del ".\Library\FailedAssetImports.txt"
del ".\Library\guidmapper"
del ".\Library\InspectorExpandedItems.asset"
del ".\Library\MonoManager.asset"
del ".\Library\NetworkManager.asset"
del ".\Library\ScriptMapper"

del *.suo /AH
del *.user
del *.suo
del *.pidb
del *.userprefs

rmdir /s ".\Library\cache" /q /s
rmdir /s ".\Library\metadata" /q /s
rmdir /s ".\Library\previews" /q /s
rmdir /s ".\Library\ScriptAssemblies" /q /s
rmdir /s ".\obj" /q /s
rmdir /s ".\Temp" /q /s
This probably is not really the cause of your problem, but it never hurts to check :D

I only commit the Assets and ProjectSettings, and I have put the meta files on (followed Jeremiah's tutorial on 3dgep about the svn stuff) Next to this I commit some networking files, all properly ignoring the Library, obj, temp and build data files.

seems to be happening after commiting, updating or any other action including svn, but lately it even seems to happen when just opening unity with that project.
