Oculus Rift

Post by 090317 » Tue Oct 08, 2013 4:19 pm

I was wondering if anyone has an Oculus Rift devkit here.
Im very interested in it as i've used an old HMD before (Z800) and am considering buying the oculus.
However i'm hoping to try it out first.

So if anyone has one, could i try it out maby?

I have a spare kit collecting dust you can give a try when I'm back in holland in november, but by then the consumer version is going to be released (so dont buy a devkit!).I think Robbie mentioned something about one or two devkits laying around at school, could ask him.

Well, the only release date for the consumer version of the Oculus Rift that I can find is "soon", which I interpret as "somewhere next year". But I can wait for that.

I do know that Brian has a kit for himself. Maybe you could ask him politely :)

There is sometimes a kit in the programming staff room (N1.308). It seems to be out now. Marco is right, it's Brian's kit so you will have to talk to him if you want to use it.

Thanks for the replies!
Seeing as i have Brian for psp class tomorrow, ill ask him about the kit.

Also Mark, where are you getting that release date from? Considering its next month, Im pretty sure I would have heard something about that.

I met one of the Oculus guys a few months ago where he mentioned it would be released this year, and I haven't heard about any delays so far. The 1080p display is a lot better than the current 800p screen, for me it's the difference being able to play around 30 minutes or 6 hours without feeling sick afterwards :P
