You should take a look at how the frames are positioned and then think about how sequential the data is.

EDIT: The cycle count you are getting for copying that data is pretty normal.

122828, the memcpy for the backdrop roughly has the same amount of cycles for me. Then again, it's a lot of data. Smoke is very slow though.

btw, are we allowed to change the formation of the tanks? because when I spawn like 65536 tanks for P1,most of them are all the way down, outside of the screen. But if I spawn them to left of the screen, they will eventually all reach the screen (if it's not filled with tanks already). It also look way more epic .

You can absolutely change the formation!

The delivery requirements tells us to hand-in the .CPP, .H, .SLN, and .VCPROJ. I've done something to loading the smoke image (and the image itself) to make it render faster. Is it a problem if I hand it in including the testdata-folder? Or does it have to work with the original images?
The requirements also say that it should compile in VS2008 and VS2010. I did the project in VS2013, is this an issue?

Thanks in advance!

You can hand in whatever files are needed for your optimized program.
Regarding VS2008/2010 etc.: I don't have 2013, so it would be great if it didn't require that; in previous years I requested 2008/2010 but I forgot to change it in the assignment description, so feel free to use 2013. I will just copy over 2012 project files to make it work on my system.

NOTE: In Visual Studio 2013 are C++11 features that are not supported in VS2012.

Just in case someone used those and didn't test it in VS2012 before handing it in.
